Jeff Hafley established himself in the region with four seasons as the head coach of the Boston College Eagles. Now, the New York Jets are interested in bringing Hafley to that role in the NFL.

New York officially announced its interview with the current Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator, per a team release Friday. Hafley’s defense finished the season sixth in yards allowed per game (315.6) and points allowed per game (19.9). The Packers went 11-6 in a battle-tested NFC North and fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card round.

Hafley posted a 22-26 mark across those four seasons at BC, though his tenure ended on a high note with a win in the 2023 Wasabi Fenway Bowl for the Eagles’ first bowl win since 2016.

The Jets seek improved direction after another disastrous year of their Aaron Rodgers experiment and a still talented roster overall. New York hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2010 postseason with a win over the No. 1-seeded New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional round.
