Red Sox fans won’t have to wait long to see Garrett Crochet in game action this spring.
Manager Alex Cora on Wednesday confirmed to reporters the All-Star pitcher will get the start when Boston plays the Toronto Blue Jays at JetBlue Park on Sunday.
The Red Sox begin their spring training games Friday when they play Northeastern. Brian Van Belle will start the seven-inning game, and Quinn Priester will get the ball Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Crochet’s already impressed in workouts since he arrived in Fort Myers, Fla., last week. The Red Sox made a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox to acquire the southpaw, who will have high expectations in his first season in Boston.
Fans will get a first look at the 25-year-old Sunday. First pitch for the Red Sox-Blue Jays exhibition matchup is scheduled at 1:05 p.m. ET on NESN 360.
