It sounds like Bill Belichick adjusted after the fallout from his infamous CBS interview.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio on Sunday, Belichick talked to at least one PR specialist “in the hopes of boosting his book tour and/or the overall interests of the North Carolina football program.” One person the former New England Patriots head coach had conversations with was former Chicago Bears vice president of communications Brandon Faber.
“The discussions have been occurring for a couple of months. For now, however, nothing has been completed or formalized,” Florio wrote. “The potential assignment encompasses working directly for North Carolina and/or assisting Belichick with non-UNC matters. Like his book.”
Belichick’s reported move came after last Sunday’s interview with “CBS News Sunday Morning.” What was supposed to be a simple sit-down promoting his new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” turned into a national story because of his girlfriend Jordon Hudson’s involvement.
CBS aired a clip of Hudson interrupting the interview when Belichick was asked how he met the 24-year-old. TMZ reported that Hudson interrupted the interview multiple times, and the sitdown was delayed 30 minutes.

The optics were horrible for Belichick, who didn’t seem to understand why his Robert Kraft omission from his book wouldn’t be asked. It led to conflicting statements from Belichick and CBS regarding what was or was not off limits in the interview. It did not help that Hudson reportedly was the only person who arrived with Belichick for the CBS program.
It seems like Belichick and his team are committed to still promoting the 73-year-old’s book, and an actual PR person could help lessen the drama around the North Carolina head coach.
