Boston Red Sox star Rafael Devers knows a thing or two about hitting home runs.

But even Devers is in awe of the sheer power behind Tyler O’Neill’s blasts.

O’Neill hit a jaw-dropping home run in the third inning in Boston’s 6-0 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday night. The Red Sox outfielder crushed a pitch from Rockies lefty Ty Blach 465 feet to left field for a solo homer.

The ball didn’t even land where fans were seated as it carried over the seats in left field and landed on the concourse. It was the longest home run of O’Neill’s career.

“I’m impressed every time I get to see his home runs,” Devers told reporters through translator Carlos Villoria Benitez. “Sometimes I’m hitting behind him, sometimes I’m on base, but every time he hits a ball, I’m very impressed. Never is like a cheap home run. They’re always very deep home runs. It’s very nice to see him hitting those home runs.”

The monster round-tripper came in O’Neill’s second at-bat of the game. In his first plate appearance, O’Neill went yard as well after Devers doubled in Jarren Duran to open the scoring in the top of the first. O’Neill went to center field for this two-run homer as it traveled only 437 feet in the thin Colorado air.

But O’Neill, who has 20 home runs now on the campaign, can’t lay claim to the longest homer of the season for the Red Sox. That actually belongs to Devers. He mashed a 467-foot bomb last month at Fenway Park against the Toronto Blue Jays.
