Celtics fans might have changed their tune on Grant Williams after Friday night and might have also found themselves agreeing with a famed Boston villain.

The final minutes of the C’s 124-109 win got hectic when Williams trucked Jayson Tatum as the All-NBA star was dribbling the ball up the court. Both the Celtics and the Charlotte Hornets got into each other’s faces, and Williams was ejected from the game after he was assessed a flagrant 2.

Jaylen Brown threw a shot at his former teammate, who claimed there was no malicious intent in his foul on Tatum. Draymond Green wasn’t buying it.

“Grant Williams saying it’s not intentional fouling JT like that is mad wild. And he smiling about it,” Green posted on X early Saturday morning.

It was ironic for the Golden State Warriors star to chime in since he’s been part of multiple incidents of a similar nature. You could spin it and interpret it as he’s an expert on the subject. He didn’t waste his shot to take another jab at Williams.

“Thinking a blindside hit ‘on ya mans’ is a smile worthy offense means 1 of 2 things,” Green said. “You have zero awareness or you a goofy…. And both make you a goofy… goofy.”

Williams and Green have a weird relationship. The two shared praise or took shots at each other on multiple occasions, and Williams even admitted he’s tried to emulate his game after the four-time NBA champion. Perhaps it was the pursuit of a championship that got Williams fired up against Boston.

“He mad at JT about something lol,” Green said along with a ring and shocked face emojis. “He was suppose to keep him in Boston lol. JT got a ring and dude let his frustrations out about it.”

It’s hard not to believe Williams saw all the social media posts from the 2024 NBA Finals between the Celtics and Dallas Mavericks, two teams he played for before he finished the season with the Hornets. So Green might have a legit point as much as Boston fans might not want to admit it.
