FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots are poachin’ people to join Mike Vrabel.

New England officially introduced its new head coach at Gillette Stadium on Monday, and shortly thereafter, reports started to surface that a fairly big addition would be joining Vrabel at One Patriot Place.

The New York Giants are allowing executive advisor Ryan Cowden out of his current deal, opening the door for him to join the Patriots, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Media. Cowden is expected to work under executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf, per Garafolo and Ian Rapaport.

Cowden’s shift closer to the coast has been expected since the news of Vrabel’s hiring was made official Sunday, with Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports initially reporting the move.

Cowden spent the last two seasons as executive advisor to New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen and previously worked with Vrabel as the Tennessee Titans director of player personnel and vice president of player personnel.
