The Celtics weren’t exactly set up to succeed Wednesday night.
After an overtime win in New York on Tuesday, Boston had to quickly head to Orlando for the second leg of a back-to-back. Such travel diminishes the chances of winning at any point in the season, but it was especially detrimental for a Celtics team that didn’t play a single typical starter against the Magic.
With the likes of Baylor Scheierman, JD Davison, Miles Norris and Drew Peterson seeing extended run at Kia Center, the reigning NBA champions predictably suffered a 20-point loss in their final road game of the regular season. Joe Mazzulla tried to hold a standard media availability after the game, but given all of the circumstances at play, the C’s head coach eventually got on reporters’ case a bit.
“I appreciate everyone’s creativity and the types of questions you’re asking,” Mazzulla told the media, per a CLNS video. “We got to the hotel at 4:30 in the morning. That was really fun what you guys did there. I mean, guys. What are we doing?”
Yeah, that sounds like someone who’s ready for the NBA playoffs to begin.

The Celtics have two games left on the docket before the postseason commences. Boston will play the Charlotte Hornets at TD Garden on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon to close out its slate.
