The Boston Bruins have had some prospects play down the stretch to help the front office and coaching staff determine where they fit within the Original Six franchise.
NESN’s broadcast team Andy Brickley and Judd Sirott joined Adam Pellerin on the latest episode of “The Hockey Hub” podcast to discuss the Bruins’ youth movement over the last few weeks.
Fraser Minten is one young forward who has caught Brickley’s eye based on how he stands out among the other forwards he’s playing with since he joined the NHL team on April 5.
“That’s how you have to evaluate this point in the year,” Brickely said. “He may not be with two bonafide NHL wingers that have been in the league for a long time that can look out for a young player and make the player look better.”
Brickley listed off several areas that hockey coaches and executives look at when they are evaluating players, such as supporting the defense, supporting the puck on the breakouts and if he’s in the right position on the ice and where Minten falls within those categories.

“I think that’s the stuff that jumps out at you,” Brickley said. “To me, he does. He does. I think he’s been the most impressive of any of the call-ups this year in terms of processing the game, understanding the game and knowing the position that he plays.”
