The Celtics reportedly filled their 15th and final roster spot before their regular season finale.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Boston converted JD Davison to a standard, two-year NBA contract Saturday. The 2022 second-round pick won the G League MVP this season after averaging 25.1 points, 7.6 assists and 5.2 rebounds with the Maine Celtics.

Davison played 35 games in the NBA in his three-year Boston career. But he’s developed into a potential contributor for the Celtics while in the G League. The work he put in impressed stars like Jaylen Brown. The conversion to a two-way contract is significant not only due to guaranteed pay but also with the security of being on the roster next season.

Saturday marked the second-straight season the Celtics filled their final roster spot by converting a two-way contract. Neemias Queta earned that honor last season.

Davison likely will get run in Boston’s regular-season finale against the Charlotte Hornets at TD Garden on Sunday. It might give fans a glimpse of a future contributor for next season.
