Roman Anthony put together the strong start to the season in Triple-A Worcester that the Boston Red Sox needed to see.

He’s hitting the ball harder than any player in the system. He’s hitting the ball to all fields. He’s continued a professional presence with maturity beyond his years at just 20 years old. Oh, and he slugged a leadoff home run and a grand slam Thursday.

What’s left for the Red Sox to promote him?

Anthony sports a .300 average with an OPS over 1.000 to start the season at Triple-A. He’s ready to play a big-league outfield and show off his prowess at the plate. The wondering of when he’ll debut after such production is more than valid. While it’s hard to project exactly when the Red Sox will make that call, there’s signs to follow of when that storm could be coming.

Boston has exercised some patterns for in-season promotions in the past, especially when the organization tried to cater to the timing of the prospect’s readiness. If that trend continues, keep an eye out for these developments around the Red Sox.

Injury Need
The Anthony promotion could be much more urgent if the Red Sox need an immediate filler if someone goes down. With that said, it could take more than that since outfield depth may be the strongest of any position from the top down in the organization.

End Of Minor League Week
Now, these have often come for promotions to Triple-A for recent young Red Sox prospects.

With that said, he could very well meet the team next week. But we’ll still be ready for a Sunday night news dump for the next month or so based on recent Red Sox history.
