In Milton Williams, the Patriots have a new defensive standout who certainly does not lack in confidence.
Williams’ self-assuredness has been on display ever since the Super Bowl LIX champion signed a monstrous contract with New England in free agency. The 26-year-old recently showed that side of himself again on the “Green Light Podcast” when he told host Chris Long about a conversation he had with new teammate Keion White.
“I already told him, if we end up on the same side, when it’s time to go rush, it’s gonna get nasty,” Williams told Long, as transcribed by MassLive.
Expectations certainly are high for Williams after landing a record-breaking deal in Foxboro, Mass. But the upcoming season also could be a breakout campaign for White, who showed flashes of excellence as an NFL sophomore but might have had his development slowed down by the 2024 coaching staff. The Georgia Tech product figures to be more set up for success under the direction of Mike Vrabel and defensive line guru Terrell Williams.
The Patriots might need White, Milton Williams and others to routinely play at a very high level, too, as major question marks still linger over New England’s offense.
