The Patriots could potentially have a generational prospect fall into their lap.

No, this is not a drill.

The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are fielding trade inquiries for their first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Peter Schrager. Cleveland currently owns the second pick, New York owns the third and New England currently sits at four.

What does this mean?

Schrager says the expectation is that those teams looking to trade into the top-three picks are pursuing Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Penn State’s Abdul Carter or Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. The Browns and Giants haven’t accepted any offers, but “neither team has outwardly rejected” them, per the report.

The Patriots would love for one of these trades to be completed, especially if it means Jeanty supplants either Hunter or Carter. New England has been tied to the latter players, though many thought it would be out of range to select either one of them. The dream doesn’t appear to be dead just yet, though.
