Tiger Woods will be gunning for a 15th career major golf tournament victory when he makes his highly anticipated return to Augusta National Golf Club this week as a +1200 wager on the 2018 Masters odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Woods returned to action this season after competing in just two PGA Tour events since the end of the 2015 season and has missed the cut in his past three major tournament appearances going into Thursday morning’s opening round of the Masters.
The 42-year-old has looked steady in his return to the tour this season, recording three top-10 finishes, including a share of second place at the Valspar Championship two weeks ago, followed by a fifth-place performance as +650 chalk one week later at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Woods also enjoys a history of success at Augusta, where he has won four green jackets, and finished in the top five of the leaderboard on 11 occasions. Woods has emerged as a +300 wager on the odds to win a major tournament in 2018.
Rory McIlroy opens the week as a slender +1000 favorite atop the Masters odds. The Northern Ireland native also has much to prove as he seeks his first major tournament victory since 2014, but he also can join an elite group that includes Woods by completing the career grand slam with a victory this weekend at Augusta.
McIlroy ended a drought dating back to 2016 with his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational as a +650 favorite and has shown consistency at Augusta with four straight top-10 finishes.
After trailing on the opening odds, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have pulled even with McIlroy at +1000, while Dustin Johnson follows the logjam at the top of the 2018 Masters odds as a +1100 wager.
Spieth is winless in 2018, but has tallied a pair of third-place finishes, including last weekend at the Houston Open as a +1100 wager. However, the 24-year-old native of Texas has failed to reclaim glory at Augusta since letting victory slip away on the final day of action in 2016 and finished 11th last year.
Thomas will be looking to carry over the momentum from his first major tournament victory at last year’s PGA Championship, but he has failed to finish higher than 22nd in two previous appearances at Augusta. Johnson hopes to bounce back after missing last year’s tournament after suffering a freak accident on the eve of opening-round action.
Further down the Masters odds, Justin Rose joins Woods at +1200, ahead of Jason Day and Phil Mickelson at +1600, while last year’s champion Sergio Garcia trails at +2500.
