No points? No problem for bettors
The New England Patriots have simply failed to score points.
The Patriots 6-0 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13 saw more of the same as New England was shut out at home for the second time this season.
New England has now scored just 13 points in their last three games, all part of a five-game losing streak. With the offensive trend continuing, bettors have taken notice of how to approach the Patriots.
Entering Sunday’s contest, both oddsmakers and bettors expected points to be at a premium. According to BetMGM, 89% of bets and 93% of the handle on the total were on the Under. The total opened at 41.5 and later moved to 39.5.
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, 79% of the handle and 74% of tickets on the total also were on the Under.
With just six points scored, bettors learned their lesson with the Patriots and were rewarded Sunday.
