Red Sox Acquire Bill Hall in Deal for Casey Kotchman On Thursday, the Red Sox officially announced they have acquired infielder/outfielder Bill Hall, a player to be named later and cash from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for first baseman Casey Kotchman.

The 30-year-old utilityman hit .201 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 110 games in 2009, which he split between the Brewers and the Mariners. Hall posted a .980 fielding percentage, appearing in 69 games at third base, 22 in left field, 15 in right, three at second base and one in center.

Hall spent part of 2009 with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate in Nashville, going 4-for-14 with one homer and four RBIs in four games. He was traded to Seattle on Aug. 19 and played in 34 games with the Mariners.

In 865 major league games, Hall has a career .251 average with 104 home runs and 379 RBIs. In each of the last six seasons, he has finished with 20 or more doubles.

Kotchman was acquired by Boston at the 2009 trade deadline and played in 39 games, posting a .218 average with one home run and seven RBIs.
