Red Sox Sign Adrian Beltre to One-Year Deal The Red Sox have officially signed third baseman Adrian Beltre to a one-year deal with a player option for 2011, it was announced Thursday by general manager Theo Epstein.

No further terms of the deal were disclosed by the club.

The 30-year-old Beltre hit .265 with 27 doubles, eight homers, 44 RBIs and 54 runs in 111 games with the Mariners in 2009. He finished in sixth place among all AL third baseman with a .959 fielding percentage, committing just 14 errors in 341 chances. He has two Gold Gloves to his name, one from 2007 and one from 2008, and he leads all active third basemen with 1,319 putouts.

Beltre was plagued by injuries in 2009, landing on the disabled list twice — once to undergo surgery to remove bone spurs in his left shoulder.

Throughout the course of 12 major league seasons, Beltre has hit .270 with 348 doubles, 26 triples, 250 homers and 906 RBIs. He has hit 25 or more home runs in a season four times and accomplished the feat for three straight years from 2006-08.
