Test Your Knowledge About Patriots AFL Venues The Patriots play in one of the nation's finest venues in Gillette Stadium, but the organization hasn't always been so lucky.

Long before arenas were named after shaving needs, websites and banks, the AFL's Pats were without a home. The Patriots never had a regular home stadium during their AFL days of the 1960s, as they played "home" games in a variety of different venues and cities.

Whether it was borrowing fields from colleges or even other sports teams in the area, the Pats didn't move into their own permanent home stadium until the club left the AFL for the NFL in 1971. It was this year that they moved into the venue, which they never played in as members of the AFL.
