Brewers slugger Prince Fielder may not still be a Milwaukee resident in 2012, but the big first baseman isn't going to be making moves any time this winter.

General manager Doug Melvin says the team won't be shopping Fielder this winter, but they have set the end of spring training as a deadline to agree on an extension with the 26-year-old, who becomes a free agent following the 2011 season.

"We're not shopping Prince," Melvin told USA Today. "I'd like to keep him. He's a homegrown player who wants to play every inning of every game. But we'd like to get something done by the end of the offseason. I don't want to negotiate during the year."

Also in the National League, the Diamondbacks have indicated that they will be open to shopping Justin Upton and Stephen Drew this offseason.

"I'm open to listening on anybody," Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers also told USA Today. "We got more hits on Upton and Drew. They're difficult to move, but sometimes to make your club better, you have to move good players. You never know when a deal might present itself."
