Kevin Youkilis Preparing to Play Third Base in 2011

The Red Sox have yet to make any roster moves this offseason, but first baseman Kevin Youkilis will make the move across the diamond this winter.

The versatile All-Star and Gold Glover told cnatiTV that he’s going to work out at third this offseason, just in case the Sox acquire a first baseman.

“I’m preparing myself to play third base because if you prepare yourself to play third base and you play first, it’s an easy transition,” Youkilis said. “So, for me, I try and prepare myself mentally to play third. I’ll probably take a little more ground balls this year, but hopefully we’ll find out sooner than later.”

Check out the Youtube video below for the entire interview from Oct. 29 while the former Bearcat was visiting the University of Cincinnati for homecoming.
