Liverpool Leapfrogs Bolton, Rises to 10th in Premier League Power Rankings After Matchday 10 The Premier League table became even more tightly contested after Matchday 10. In fact, the team in 17th place, Wigan, is just three points behind eighth-place Everton, and 14th-place Aston Villa is just three adrift of fifth-place Tottenham.

Given such, it’s pretty hard to assess who’s actually good, merely mediocre, and destined for relegation at this point. The bottom two teams in this week’s rankings have both beaten the team sitting in the fourth spot.

We do, however, know a couple of things. The three newcomers — Blackpool, Newcastle and West Brom — all have real chances to stay in the top flight next year. Newcastle and West Brom appear to have legitimate EPL class, and Blackpool plays with evident heart, fearlessness and positivity. The league’s three elites — Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United — have continued to separate themselves from the rest, but the extent to which Chelsea looks like the clear favorite may be slightly shrinking.

Still, the Blues retain the top spot this week.
