There may be an even greater reason for Patriots fans to hate the Jets.

Wide receiver Randy Moss, who was waived by the Vikings earlier this week, has been spotted in New Jersey where he met with the New York Jets on Tuesday, according to WFAN.

“Randy Moss, I’ve learned, was in Boston Monday, and was in New Jersey [Tuesday]. Meaning, you’ve got yourself the Patriots and the Jets talking about Randy Moss,” WFAN’s Craig Carton announced alongside Boomer Esiason.

The host won’t release the source of this information, but claims Moss was meeting “at the same spot [Jets quarterback] Mark Sanchez likes to frequent near his home.”

Many peg the Pats to be a front-runner in landing Moss, but at 6-1, the AFC East leaders have last dibs on the Pro Bowler. Carton insists the Jets’ interest in the former Patriots receiver is simple waiver wire warfare.

“There’s no doubt in my mind, just to prevent the Patriots from going down that road again, the Jets will put a claim in for Randy Moss,” Carton said.

Teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday to put in a claim for Moss and the remaining $6.4 million he’s guaranteed to make the rest of the season.
