We learned overnight that the Red Sox were "deep in discussions" with the Phillies on Monday regarding right-hander Joe Blanton. On Tuesday morning, it looks like a deal might be done.

Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reported via Twitter that "Philly has a deal in place with Boston for Blanton."

What that deal is, exactly, isn't yet known.

Earlier, Ken Rosenthal reported that the two teams had been talking. The Phillies, after winning the Cliff Lee sweepstakes, are willing to part with Blanton and are reportedly willing to pay part of the $17 million he's owed over the next two seasons.

Update, 9:18 a.m.: Two reports say there is no deal. Read more by clicking here.
