Arizona State University and Nike Unveil New-Look Uniforms, Pitchfork Replaces Sparky as Primary Logo After weeks of hype, the Arizona State University athletics department has revealed their new look, unveiling a new pitchfork logo, a new font and new uniforms across the board.

The Sun Devils put their new look on display on Tuesday in front of a jam-packed crowd at the Memorial Union on campus, The Arizona State Press reports.

ASU teamed up with Nike for the redesign, creating a brand new “Fear the Fork” pitchfork logo that will replace Sparky the Sun Devil as the new primary athletics’ emblem.

In addition to the new logo, ASU has also introduced a brand new font called “Sun Devil Bold” that will be exclusively used by the university.

The school’s new uniforms introduce a new color into the scheme, as the football and basketball teams will now have a black uniform in addition to white and maroon. ASU vice president for university athletics Lisa Love says the athletes love the new black uniforms.

“That is a color right now that actually really speaks to the generation of student athletes that are competing now and recruiting in the future,” Love said. “They love it.”

Though ASU is still unsure of when they’ll debut the new black uniforms on the gridiron next fall, Love insists the color scheme will attract future recruits, and current ASU athletes agree.

“Done deal,” senior cornerback Omar Bolden said when asked if the uniforms would have impacted his decision. “All I’d have to see is the all black and it [would be] a done deal. High school students come in and see the different combos for uniforms and it makes them want to commit right then and there. I think it is definitely going to help us.”

While some are concerned with Sparky’s demotion, Love assured the masses that the popular logo would make his resurgence in the future. According to the report, Sparky will remain on the ASU football helmet, but will be moved from the side to the back. The new pitchfork logo will be featured as the primary logo on the side of the helmet.

“Sparky is absolutely not downplayed,” Love said. “That is the best mascot in the United States, and there is no reason for [ASU] to put Sparky on the back burner. He is going to be very much on the front burner. He is actually going to get bigger.”
