We're just about a quarter of the way through the 2011 baseball regular season, and while things may not have gone completely according to plan, the Sox are just a handful of games out of first place at 18-20. Given how the first couple weeks of the campaign went, that's not a bad place to be.
What's far more important, however, will be where Boston rests in the standings at season's end.
Obviously, the team showed its vulnerabilities in the early going. The bats were painfully slow getting warm, and both the starters and relievers surely had kinks to work out as well. Now, though, the team does seem to be heading in the right direction, as the Sox are 7-5 in the month of May, with many of those who struggled in April finding their way.
