“We’ve got an option to be active if we want to be active, but we said at the outset that we’d be quiet,” Dalglish said. “If we needed somebody to bolster up, we could do it — but I said right at the outset, we don’t.
“We’re not really chasing after anybody that we want to bring in in January. We’ve been happy with what they (the players) have done since August.”
It has been reported that Liverpool is interested in signing Premier League stars such as Aston Villa’s Daren Bent and Blackburn’s Christopher Samba.
Stars playing in continental Europe like Loic Remy, Luuk De Jong and Esteban Granero have are also rumored LFC targets.
But Dalglish and other members of the LFC coaching setup have praised the strength and depth of the current squad since early September. Even opposing managers like Wigan’s Roberto Martinez have said the 2011-12 squad was Liverpool’s strongest in years.
That doesn’t mean the club will not turn down the chance to sign a player that will improve the overall level of the squad. But it likely means LFC will be more selective than other clubs in pursuing it’s transfer options. That will provide more of a long-term benefit to the club than buying for the sake of buying.
