BOSTON –– Bobby Valentine helplessly watched as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady‘s last heave in Super Bowl XLVI fell to the ground.

Having cultivated a friendship with Patriots coach Bill Belichick over the past two months, the Red Sox manager couldn’t completely enjoy his Super Bowl trip to Indianapolis last weekend.

“It was real quick in and out,” Valentine said. “The outcome stunk, but everything else was spectacular.”

Despite the Patriots’ devastating 21-17 loss, Belichick won’t spend much time moping. The Patriots head coach already told Valentine they would be crossing paths sooner rather than later –– in the Red Sox stomping grounds, at that.

“He said ‘I’ll see you in Fort Myers,’ so I’m looking forward to it,” Valentine said, recounting their last exchange.
