Lamar University men’s basketball head coach Pat Knight went on a rant about his players at a post-game news conference Wednesday night after a 65-52 loss to Stephen F. Austin State University. The rant seemded to echo those that his father, legendary college basketball coach Bob Knight, had during his 42 seasons on the bench.
The younger Knight expressed disappointment in the quality of play and the attitude of the team’s seniors, saying they were the “worst group of seniors, right now, that I’ve ever been associated with.”
“We’ve had problems with these guys off the court, on the court, [in the] classroom, [with] drugs…you can’t just do all that BS and expect to be a good team and win games. And if people have a problem with me being so harsh about it, I don’t care,” he said.
Well, Knight seems to be following in his father’s footsteps with his brutal honesty, and a little tough love never hurt anyone, right?
