David Ortiz and the Red Sox are headed to at least one more year together, according to a report.

The designated hitter and the team reached a settlement prior to their arbitration hearing, ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted on Monday. The agreement is for $14.575 million, which is the midway point between the team’s $12.65 million offer and Ortiz’s desired $16.5 million figure.

Had the two sides gone to arbitration, a judge would have ruled for one figure or the other. Despite agreeing to terms, the deal falls short of Ortiz’s desire for a multiyear contract.
