Horton, who hasn't played since Jan. 22 because of a concussion, is reportedly not close to returning right now. According to CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty, a source close to Horton indicated that the winger's return "is going to be awhile."
Bruins head coach Claude Julien revealed on Tuesday that Horton still hasn't resumed skating on his own after he suffered a setback a few weeks ago. The 26-year-old has missed the Bruins' last 11 games after suffering from what was orginially deemed to be a "mild concussion" following a hit from Philadelphia's Tom Sestito.
Haggerty reports that his source did stress that there's every belief Horton will return before the end of the regular season, though.
However, the situation is made even more troubling by the limited number of games left and the fact that Horton's concussion is his second within an eight-month span.
Hopefully, Horton will be able to return for some of Boston's stretch run and eventually the postseason. Until then, general manager Peter Chiarelli may have to look outside the organization for some offensive punch, as the B's have struggled to score goals of late.
