Report: Peyton Manning Prefers to Stay in AFC, Aiming to Make Free Agency Decision by Next WeekPeyton Manning will be changing teams, but he might not necessarily be changing conferences.

Manning prefers to stay in the AFC, according to ESPN.com. The four-time NFL MVP reportedly is open to playing in the NFC, though, and he's aiming to make a decision within the next week on where he will play next season.

Manning appears to already be drawing considerable interest, as 12 teams have reportedly reached out to the 11-time Pro Bowler. Of those 12 teams, the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and New York Jets have been in contact with Manning's representatives, ESPN reports.

One of the most prolific quarterbacks of all time, Manning missed the entire 2011 season after undergoing multiple neck surgeries. He was subsequently released by the Colts on Wednesday, as the organization has decided to go in a new direction with a new quarterback, presumably Stanford prospect Andrew Luck.

There's sure to be plenty of speculation in the coming days regarding Manning's future, but we could be in store for a quick decision, because whichever team lands the 35-year-old signal caller would surely like to have him on the roster as soon as possible in order to build around him throughout the rest of the offseason.
