Report: Roger Clemens Unable to Attend Fenway Park Celebration, Still Has Great Love for Boston One of the most successful pitchers in Red Sox history will not make an appearance during the Fenway Park 100-year anniversary celebration Friday afternoon.

Roger Clemens turned down the invitation to the Fenway celebration, stating that family gatherings will keep him from making an appearance, according to USA Today.

"We were working hard to make it happen," Clemens said, "but my 17-year-old [Kacy Clemens] is in a district [baseball] tournament back home [in Texas]."

Clemens was one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball during his 13 seasons in Boston. His 192 wins in a Red Sox uniform is tied for the club record with Cy Young. Clemens' 100 wins at Fenway Park is also a Red Sox record.

Overall, the famed pitcher accumulated a 192-111 record with a 3.06 ERA, three Cy Young awards and the 1986 AL MVP before leaving Boston after the 1996 season to join AL East rival Toronto.

Despite leaving under less-than-ideal circumstances, Clemens still has strong feelings for Boston and regrets his inability to join the Fenway Park festivities.

"Big-time [regrets]," Clemens said. "I talked to Mr. [Larry] Lucchino. We still love Boston and the family is looking forward to sitting on top of the Green Monster for another game. We will be up in Boston for a Jimmy Fund [Dana-Farber Cancer Research Center] fundraiser in June."

Clemens will be back in court soon for his ongoing perjury trial when possible jurors will be named to hear the case, which could begin early next week.
