Rob Gronkowski recently came into some money — a whole lot of it in fact. And while many people created lists and lists of what the exuberant tight end would spend his new found riches on, it appears he’s already spent some of it to help in the fight against drug addiction.

Gronkowski, his family’s Gronk Nation Youth Foundation and G&G Fitness — owned by father Gordy Gronkowski — have teamed up with the DEA, the New York-New Jersey High Intensity Drug Area program and the Buffalo Bills Youth Foundation to outfit a Buffalo, New York treatment facility with $30,000 in workout equipment.

The equipment will go to refurbish the gym at the Renaissance Campus, a West Seneca treatment facility in Buffalo, according to Dan Herbeck of the Buffalo News. Gronkowski’s No. 87 New England Patriots jersey will also adorn the walls of the rehab center in his home city.

Gronkowski, who signed a six-year, $54 million extension in June, has spent much of the offseason rehabbing his surgically repaired right ankle. But even with his rehab and endless partying, Gronk has apparently found some time to give back to the community as well.

He recently participated in a charity golf tournament for former Patriots lineman Joe Andruzzi, and even shaved his head at another charity event benefiting cancer research earlier in the summer. But while Gronk has been active in other activities such as these, he’s taken a great sense of pride in helping fight drug addiction in his hometown.

“When you’re growing up, you need to stay around people who are headed in the right direction and stay away from people who will take you in the wrong direction,” Gronkowski said. “I’m very proud to be involved with [Renaissance Campus], where we can help kids do the right thing by staying away from the wrong things.”

So while he may be looking to spike plenty of footballs this season, it appears that Gronk will also be attempting to spike drug addiction out of the community as well.
