Rich Hill Will Travel to Fort Myers on Wednesday to Begin Rehab ProcessBOSTON — A week after acquiring a lefty, the Red Sox are getting closer to adding another one from within.

Sidelined since June 8 with a strained left elbow, Rich Hill is headed to Fort Myers on Wednesday to start throwing. Before resuming aggressive throwing activities, Hill will begin his rehab by tossing some batting practice.

“His mound work has been really good,” Bobby Valentine said. “We’re close to getting him to Florida to pitch in a game. He’s going to go down and start throwing a little BP.”

In 17 appearances this season, Hill flourished in Boston’s bullpen, posting a 1-0 record with a 2.63 ERA. During 13 2/3 innings, the southpaw reliever struck out 11 batters and walked seven while only yielding four runs.
