The New York Yankees acquired two more prospects Thursday in a trade that sent veteran catcher Brian McCann to the Houston Astros.

McCann seems pretty excited to join the Astros.
Remember, McCann had to waive no-trade clause to approve trade to Astros. He wants to catch every day.

McCann batted .242 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs in 2016. He still has three more seasons left on his contract with an average annual salary of $17 million. Rookie catcher Gary Sanchez’s emergence this past season helped make McCann expendable.
Since the start of the 2016 season, New York has built an impressive farm system after trading away veterans Andrew Miller, Aroldis Chapman and now McCann.
Will they turn this surplus of quality prospects into a superstar player via trade? They’ll probably try.
