Rob Gronkowski Tweets He’s Underpaid After Patriots Pick Up His Option

Is Rob Gronkowski unhappy with his contract?

The New England Patriots tight end sent out a (sort of) cryptic tweet Monday night shortly before the Indianapolis Colts gave their tight end, Dwayne Allen, a four-year, $29.4 million contract. The Patriots picked up the rest of Gronkowski’s option Monday, too, which prompted a tweet from him about being underpaid.

While some of the media chose to interpret this as trouble in paradise — Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole said the sides could be headed for a “rough contract battle” — it’s actually not clear at all what Gronkowski was commenting on. If anything, it seems more like Gronkowski was saying he doesn’t work hard for the money.

Either way, expect some hot takes on a tweet that consists heavily of emojis.
