It appears Ryan Lochte’s Rio incident will have repercussions after all.

The United States swimmer has been suspended 10 months for fabricating details of his story about being robbed during the Olympics with three other Team USA swimmers, according to TMZ and other reports.

He’ll also be barred from the 2017 world championships, USA TODAY Sports reported, citing a person who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the decision has not been publicly announced.

Lochte’s punishment came via a group decision from the United States Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Committee and USA Swimming, per TMZ, which also reported that some USOC members believed the punishment was far too severe considering Michael Phelps received just a six-month suspension after two DUIs.

TMZ adds the other three swimmers involved in the Rio incident also will be suspended for varying lengths of time, and that one of them is facing up to a four-month ban.

The suspension is just the latest punishment for Lochte, who has lost sponsorships, been the butt of multiple jokes and tirades on national TV, and will compete in the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars.”
