As the Jets make their way toward a solution to their ongoing quarterback controversy, they're shifting their focus to other offensive needs — like wide receivers.
Reports circulated on Wednesday that New York was interested in acquiring Denver's Brandon Marshall, and on Thursday, Kansas City's Dwayne Bowe was thrown into the mix.
But according to Yahoo Sports, it is unlikely that either wideout will end up in the Meadowlands in 2009. Whether or not the Broncos plan on trading Marshall is uncertain, and if they do trade him, their asking price is bound to be high — possibly higher than the Jets are willing to pay.
There is a better chance that the Chiefs will trade Bowe, but he would also come with a hefty price tag.
Marshall requested a trade from Denver in June and expressed his desire to leave the Broncos via his blog:
"To whom it may concern. Life is filled with change, and where I am in my life now change is probably best. It's hard leaving an organization ran [sic] by one of the best owners in all of sports, and someone who's been there for me through my ups and downs. The hardest thing was hearing Mr. B [Broncos owner Pat Bolen] wish me luck in the future, but we both came to the conclusion that this is probably the best thing for me to grow on and off the field.
"I thank the Denver fans who embraced my emotion and play on the field and showing me love every time I step outside my door."
