Memphis Forced to Vacate All 38 Wins From 2007-08 Season It was good while it lasted.

Now, let the records show that there were only three teams in the 2007-08 NCAA men's basketball Final Four.

The Memphis Tigers, who racked up a record 38 wins in 2007-08 and ended the year as runners-up after losing to Kansas in the national championship game, have been stripped of all their wins from the season because the school used an ineligible player. This marks the second time in school history that Memphis has been forced to vacate a Final Four appearance; the last time was in 1985.

The Tigers head coach at the time, John Calipari, also held the reigns at UMass when the 1996 Minutemen team was stripped of its Final Four berth.

While the NCAA did not identify the ineligible player, it is widely assumed to be Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose. The player allegedly had someone else take his SAT for him so he would be eligible to play basketball as a freshman.
