Boston College has been selected as the host institution for the East Regional portion of the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, the NCAA announced on Monday.

The tournament is set for March 22-24, 2012 and the games will be played at the TD Garden. Boston College was the host institution during the 2009 East Regionals, and previously hosted the 1999 and 2003 first and second rounds of the tournament.

"We are extremely pleased that the NCAA has decided to return to Boston for college basketball’s
showcase event," Boston College director of athletics Gene DeFilippo said. "This decision is a tribute to the outstanding cooperation Boston College has received from Mayor Menino’s office, the city of Boston, the TD Garden, the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau and the local business community. We are grateful for their support and excited to have this opportunity once again."
