ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz is on the disabled list for the third time this season because of hamstring issues.

The Rangers placed Cruz on the 15-day DL again Monday before their game at Tampa Bay. The move was retroactive to Sunday, the day after Cruz came out of a game with a tight left hamstring.

An MRI for Cruz on Sunday revealed inflammation but no tear.

Cruz, who his hitting .320 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs in 77 games, had already missed 37 games on the DL. He was out April 27-May 13 with a strained right hamstring and May 29-June 21 with a left hamstring strain.

Texas also activated infielder Joaquin Arias from the 15-day disabled list. He had been out since July 31 with a muscle strain in his back.
