The Yankees have added another veteran starting pitcher to their rotation.
On Monday, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick tweeted that Freddy Garcia will be wearing pinstripes this season.
Crasnick later tweeted details of the Yankees' deal with Garcia.
"Freddy Garcia gets a $1.5M salary with $3.6M in possible incentives based on starts," the tweet read. "Tops out at 30 starts"
Garcia has reportedly been eyeing New York as his playing destination for a few weeks now.
"My preference is to be with the New York Yankees, and it's not unreasonable to have that in mind, because I've demonstrated that I can be useful," Garcia said last week, according to the Venezuelan paper, Meridiano. "A team like New York would be ideal for my age, [as I would be] playing in a successful, media-heavy, demanding division. Without doubt it would be an inspiration."
Last year, Garcia posted a 12-6 record with the White Sox, recording a 4.64 ERA in 157.0 innings pitched during his first full, healthy season since 2006.
The Yankees also signed Bartolo Colon last Wednesday to a minor league deal after signing Mark Prior to a minor league deal earlier in the offseason.
