Iran Threatening to Boycott 2012 London Olympics Due to 'Zion' in Logo The 2012 London Olympics logo was revealed in 2007, supposedly appealing to the world's youth with its graffiti-style "2012" image.

Now, years later, the logo is causing an uproar in Iran, and the country is threatening to boycott the games because the image apparently says "Zion," a reference to Jerusalem and Israel, according to the New York Daily News.

Bahram Afsharzadeh, the country's Olympic secretary general, says that he wrote a letter of complaint to IOC president Jacques Rogge, but that the issue was not address. Unless it is, his country may boycott the event.

"There is no doubt that negligence of the issue from your side may affect the presence of some countries in the games, especially Iran, which abides by commitment to the values and principles," the letter said.

Ironically, the image was criticized in 2007 for resembling a Nazi emblem.

Boycott threats are nothing new from Iran, though they've ultimately showed up at every Olympics since 1984.
