The lockout may coincide with a lockup for Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib.
Talib is being named a "person of interest" in a March 21 shooting, involving Talib, his mother, his sister and his sister's boyfriend, the Dallas Observer reports.
''The investigation is ongoing. But I can confirm that Mr. Talib is a person of interest in the case,'' Garland Police Department administration supervisor Captain Patrick McCulley told the Observer.
The exact details of what went down are still unclear, however both Aqib and his mother are suspected of firing shots at Shannon Billings, the boyfriend of Aqib's sister.
According to the police report, Aqib is accused of attempting to pistol whip Billings. After the initial skirmish, Talib's mother Okolo reportedly fired shots at a fleeing Billings, before Aqib fired off two shots of his own.
A Garland police spokesman stated that the department will make a decision on whether or not to charge Aqib Talib later this week.
''This is still an open case,'' Joe Harn told the St. Petersburg Times. ''Once the detectives have decided, probably later this week, if there are charges that need to be brought against him or not, because of the high-profile interest in this case, we’ll have an announcement.''
Talib, who was suspended for one game last season after assaulting a St. Petersburg cab driver in 2009 could still face further sanctions from the NFL after the lockout.
