Liverpool is set for an end-of-season race with Tottenham to secure fifth place in the Premier League and a spot in Europa League competition next season.
Jamie Carragher is ready for the fight.
"I know there is a lot of talk about whether people want us to finish fifth but, for me, Liverpool is European football," he said, according to ESPN.com. "That's what the club is about, and I'm desperate for us to get it."
Liverpool, fresh off a 3-0 victory over Newcastle, currently sits in fifth, but Tottenham has played one fewer game. Carragher made it clear that the club has one goal for the final three games — including a crucial head-to-head matchup with Tottenham on May 15.
"It is important for the team to keep winning and maintain the feel-good factor," he said, according to ESPN.com. "It hasn't been a great 18 months really for the club. It has been tough. Now, though, we can start to enjoy ourselves and go into games expecting to win."
