Wayne Simmonds has been in the news a lot lately.

The Flyers winger, who was the subject of a racist act two weeks ago, is now being accused of using a homophobic slur during Monday night's game by Rangers forward Sean Avery.

Avery and Simmonds were jawing at each other during the contest when a television camera appeared to catch Simmonds uttering the slur. When Avery was asked by a reporter after the game if Simmonds indeed called him that, Avery answered: "Yeah, yeah," according to The Associated Press.

When asked about the incident after the game, Simmonds claimed that, "it's just the heat of the battle," and that "sometimes it just happens."
