Tim Tebow Seemingly Pokes Fun at Himself, Says He ‘Thanked the Lord’ for Marion Barber’s Boneheaded Play

You might have heard that Tim Tebow is a Christian, and a vocal one at that.

His outspoken faith is inspiring to some and annoying to others, but the Broncos quarterback has given nothing but a smile and a forgiving comment to his detractors.

He hears the comments, though, and after leading the Broncos to an improbable 13-10 victory over the Bears on Sunday, Tebow seemed to poke fun at himself.

The overtime win, which included two impossibly long field goals by Broncos kicker Matt Prater, would not have been possible if Bears running back Marion Barber had stayed in bounds on a run while Chicago was trying to run out the clock in the fourth quarter. Barber's boneheaded move gave the Broncos an extra 45 seconds for Tebow to lead them to the tying field goal.

Asked in the postgame news conference about Barber's error, Tebow grinned.

"I might have thanked the Lord he did that," Tebow said.

Then he laughed.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

He wins, he's polite and now he has a sense of humor?

Believe.

Quote of the day

"That's what I deserve. You make bad plays, you're supposed to get yelled at by your coaches. It's certainly not the first time and probably won't be the last. You can't do it in that situation. It was just a stupid play by me."

Admit it, you've been saving this one up for weeks. The right context finally arrived.

Why are we wasting time and grant money trying to teach chimpanzees to do math when we should be training cockatiels to sing the Mario Bros. theme song?

Fortunately, one fine American has his act together.
