Former major leaguer Elijah Dukes is in trouble with the law once again.
The former Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder was arrested on Thursday and charged with marijuana possession and destroying evidence after being pulled over in Tampa, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The police report states that officers saw flakes of marijuana on Dukes’ shirt, and he eventually tried to eat a bag of marijuana in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Dukes also had a blunt tucked behind his ear, per the police report.
The 27-year-old has been arrested five times in the past year, mostly for charges related to a suspended license, but he was also accused of hitting his pregnant ex-girlfriend last March.
The 2002 third-round pick, once considered a prospect in the Tampa Bay organization, hasn’t played in the majors since 2009 when he played a career-high 107 games with the Nationals.
He’s since moved on to become a rapper, operating under the name “Fly Eli.”
