Paul Pierce continues to etch his name in Celtics lore.
Pierce passed Boston legend Larry Bird on the Celtics' all-time scoring list on Tuesday night, moving him into second behind only John Havlicek.
Pierce drained a 3 with 10:23 to go in the third quarter of the Celtics' game against the Bobcats, which sent the TD Garden crowd into a frenzy. The Celtics captain was given a standing ovation as he waved to fans. At the next whistle, a video tribute was shown on the Jumbotron, at which point he went to halfcourt to take a bow.
Pierce currently sits in 28th on the NBA's all-time scoring list after surpassing Bird's total of 21,791 points.
