The Red Sox may still be an option for Roy Oswalt after all.

After reporting that Oswalt was nearing a deal with St. Louis last week, ESPN reports the Sox still have “a great chance” of signing the veteran to a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old hurler has also expressed interest in the Rangers. But with Colby Lewis, Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Alexi Ogando in contention to start, Texas’ rotation is already stacked.

Oswalt also has flirted with the Cardinals, reportedly because it was closer to his Mississippi home.

“I’m not sure anybody but [Oswalt], his family and his agent know what he’s going to do,” a Red Sox source told ESPN.com

As a starter for the Phillies in 2011, Oswalt went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA. He was limited to just 23 starts and spent a stint in the summer on the disabled list with a chronic lower back injury.
