Red Sox Receive Aaron Kurcz From Cubs As Player To Be Named Later From Theo Epstein Deal

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox have received the player to be named in the Theo Epstein transaction.

The team announced Thursday that right-handed pitcher Aaron Kurcz would be the last piece of the deal from the Cubs. Kurcz, 21, was an 11th round selection in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player’s Draft.

Last season, Kurcz made 32 appearances –– 12 starts ––at High-A Daytona, posting a 3.28 ERA and a 5-4 record. Through 82 1/3 innings, he struck out 91 batters and has showed flexibility as a reliever and a starter.
